Brazilian rocker Ayres Sasaki, a beloved singer known for his soulful voice and dynamic performances, died after being electrocuted on stage during a concert in São Paulo, Brazil.

The Brazilian singer was performing at the Solar Hotel in Salinópolis, a municipality within Pará, on July 13 when an interaction with a fan caused an electric shock. According to the Brazilian news site Istoé Gente, the fan’s clothing was wet when they leaned in for a hug with Sasaki.

Once the two made contact, an electric shock was believed to have surged from a nearby cable, The Sun reported, with fatal results for the musician. Sasaki died at the scene, according to local media outlets.
