Get Down with James Brown: Live At The Apollo Vol. 4 Music Legends Music News by da jack hayford - May 2, 2016May 24, 20230 Beginning in 1963, James Brown recorded and released three albums recorded at the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY. But it turns out that there was actually there a fourth, comprised of recordings made on Sept. 13 and 14, 1972. that has been buried ever since… until now: Get Down with James Brown: Live At The Apollo Vol. IV. It is not clear why the master tapes from these shows sat on a shelf all this time. Perhaps Brown decided not to release them or maybe the decision was made by his record label at the time, Polydor. At any rate, thankfully for fans Get Down with James Brown: Live At The Apollo Vol. IV has finally been released (on vinyl), and the CD will follow in summer 2016. “…the performance [on Get Down with James Brown: Live At The Apollo Vol. IV] is a marvelous time capsule, a window into a time when Brown was everywhere: on the radio, on television, in the public imagination.” —NPR Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)MoreClick to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Like this:Like Loading...
