Taylor Swift Delivers in Nashville’s Soggy Nissan Stadium

Taylor Swift Nissan Stadium 2023

A rain show only chooses a crowd that can handle a rain show.

On two lovely spring evenings (May 5-7 2023) and one swamped by a deluge, pop (and country!) icon Taylor Swift skillfully delivered her critically acclaimed 45-song show during the Nashville iteration of her 52 all-stadium ‘Eras’ tour, her first major tour in five years.

And did she ever deliver! By all accounts, Swifties who poured into Nissan stadium (and even those who endured a three hour pouring rain /severe weather delay during the final show) saw the show of a lifetime.

With the rain-soaked Sunday concert enthralling some 71,000 rabid fans, Swift set a single-event and weekend record for attendance at Nissan Stadium, attracting a staggering three-night total of well over 200,000 people.

Due to lightning and the downpour, the Sunday show, billed to start at 6:30 pm, actually began after 10:00 pm and ended well after 1:00 am Monday. Nonetheless, the trooper that Swift surely is remained as undaunted as the ecstatic crowd.

If Nissan Stadium had a roof, Swift would’ve blown it off during her three-and-a-half-hour performance…

…Swift choreographs her set like a conductor would lead an orchestra or a director would deliver a musical. Each moving part — dancers, band members, set pieces — plays a role in telling a story of the “era” being chronicled on stage.

But Taylor Swift delivered more than a raft of great tunes. She also took the time to help assuage the pain of a family member suffering a devastating loss from the unthinkable mass shooting at The Covenant School.*

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Taylor Swift offered her hat to a special fan while performing “22″ at Nissan Stadium this weekend.

Eleanor Dieckhaus, sister of The Covenant School shooting victim Evelyn Dieckhaus, was surprised to find out she was attending the concert, according to a tweet.

Evelyn’s best friend had plans to surprise Evelyn and her sister Eleanor with a spot in a suite, but Eleanor had to attend the concert alone. The surprise came after the mass shooting at The Covenant School, meaning Evelyn never got the chance to receive the special gift from her friend, according to a tweet from a person who said used to babysit the two.

User Jordan Aaliyah continued the tweet by calling on Swifties for help in giving Eleanor the surprise of a lifetime.

“I think it would be the sweetest memory if Eleanor was able to receive Taylor’s hat during 22. Please help,” the tweet reads.

Taylor Swift fan Kendall Jones said she had seen the tweet before attending the concert and recognized Eleanor as she was put on the big screen in Nissan Stadium. Jones also said the unique concert tradition [of presenting her “22” hat to an audience member] almost always features a younger fan.

*On March 27, 2023, a mass school shooting occurred at The Covenant School, a Presbyterian Church parochial elementary school in the Green Hills neighborhood of Nashville, Tennessee. The shooter killed three nine‑year‑old children and three adults before being shot and killed by two Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) officers. Wikipedia
