In 2011 singer Alejandro Fuentes-Rosas appeared on Mexico’s “The Voice.”
On June 16, 2016 the singer was shot and suffered a fatal wound in Chicago, where he lived. Fuentes-Rosas’ was shot on his birthday. He was 45 years old.
According to reports, “A man approached the singer on foot, displayed a handgun and ordered him out of the car, police said. The victim resisted and the gunman fired several rounds, striking him in the head, police said.The attacker ran a short distance on foot then got into a car and fled, police said.” —CNN
As of this writing, the whereabouts of the perpetrator was not known and the killer had not been arrested. Chicago has one of the highest gun-fatality rates in the world.
Sadly, Fuentes-Rosas’ killing comes just one week after another former “Voice” contestant, Christina Grimmie, was shot dead following a performance in Orlando, Florida. Grimmie was just 22 years old and had risen to fame afteer her appearance on the U.S. version of “The Voice,” which airs on NBC.
